The history of Jubilees began in 1300, with the bull “Antiquorum habet” issued by Pope Boniface VIII.
As the extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy is taking place, Italy's Senate of the Republic has organized an exhibition on Holy Years in the wonderful setting of the Sala Zuccari at Palazzo Giustiniani in Rome. The exhibition follows the development of Jubilees throughout the centuries through a selection of ancient and modern books and documents held by the Senate.
On display are also precious documents and material from the Vatican's Apostolic Library, the Museum of the National Mint and the Vatican's Philatelic and Numismatic Office.
