Francesco Petrarca to Guglielmo da Pastrengo

Petrarca was a pilgrim in the Jubilee of 1350. Here he addresses an epistle to his friend Guglielmo da Pastrengo exhorting the man to accompany him to Rome, where, he says, comes people from many european countries. Guglielmo doesn't accept his invitation and Petrarca makes the journey alone.

King Ferrante and his court in Rome for the Jubilee of 1475

A number of sovereigns and aristocrats came to Rome for the Jubilee of 1475, including the sovereigns of Denmark, Bosnia, Hungary (Matthias Corvinus) and, from the Kingdom of Naples, Ferdinand I of Aragon, who brought along his whole court and made great donations to the pontiff. The pilgrim's plaquette

Between XII and XVI century, the faithful who arrived in Rome for the Holy Year received a small metal plate representing Saints Peter and Paul, called "testimonium" because it certified that the pilgrimage had took place. Stitched on their cloaks, it accompanied them on their journey back, ensuring hospitality in convents and hospices along the way. The original, of which on the occasion of the Jubilee it has been realized a copy to distribute to third millennium pilgrims, is treasured in the collection of medals of Vatican Apostolic Library.
