Rome Hoteliers
The origins of the Rome University of Hoteliers, a guild for those who offered accommodation to pilgrims and travellers who flocked to the city from all parts, dates back into the mists of time: indeed, some claim that it dates back as far as the late thirteenth century. In the 1600s, it was headquartered at the Church of Sant’Eustachio, not far from Via dell’Orso, which boasted the city’s largest concentration of hotels and inns.
